Welcome to Music in the ACT

This site is dedicated to linking the Australian Capital Territory's musicians, venues and businesses plus listing helpful music industry sites to assist in artist and business development. Our aim is to encourage growth in the music community of our territory and offer a one-stop location for all music industry needs.

We have contacted several bands/artists, venues and businesses and built directories in each category which can be accessed from the top menu bar. There is also a forum where our music community can get together and network. Last but not least, check out our regularly updated gig guide.

KAYO MARBILUS DROPS NEW E.P
by bandpromotion on Tue 08 Jun, 2010 10:44 am

Canberra’s own hip-hop artist, Kayo is in the final stages of droping his latest E.P "Karisma" which Kayo has been working on for the past 18months and is due out June 19th.

Kayo Marbilus is an established Canberra hip hop artist originally from Ghana. He has been doing live performances since he was 15, and released his debut CD at the age of 19 which was popular in the Canberra scene, with over 900 copies sold. Tracks from the CD were played on FUEL CHANNEL 2005 - 2007, and music from the Canberra Stand Up Mixtape was featured on FAT PIZZA SERIOUS 5 2007 and received outstanding feedback from Australia's top DJs.

"I'm excited by artists who own their positions within the hip hop community. Ones who work with what they got to make some noise. One such artist goes by the name of Kayo Marbilus…and he knows how to bring the heat! …writing on topics that are both personal as well as inspirational, Kayo steps to the mic with a voice that speaks with honesty - Maxine Cohen.

As well as sharing insights into his life growing up, Kayo raps about issues such as poverty and politics in Australia and the struggles of disadvantaged Australian youth. Kayo may not reflect the sound of your typical Australian rapper - having strong Ghanaian heritage and being Australian raised, Kayo brings a unique accent to the Aussie hip hop scene, and flows to beats with an urban sound reflective of popular US Hip Hop.

Be sure to check out Kayo's Myspace page for updates,tours...etc. Kayo Marbilus's E.P will be for purchase on iTunes via his myspace page.
